Using 21st Century Education Technologies in FACS

Technology in the classroom has revolutionized the way teachers teach.  This has done wonders for many students and the way they learn.  A new program called, Fast Forword, was recently introduced to the Hicksville School District.  Students who are struggling with reading and speaking sit in the computer lab five times a week for 30 minutes a day engaging in different activities on the computers.  The students wear headphones and have microphones that they use to communication with the program.  During this time teachers walk around the classroom and listen in on the student’s activity helping them along the way.  This is just one way I’ve seen technology implemented in the educational world.  In my FACS classroom I hope to use the internet for research on different nutritional topics along with the new iPads that were just delivered this year.  There are many different apps that I know students will love to use and learn from on the iPads.
